Stability Tester

The Stability Tester documents the looseness or "chuck" of seat adjusters, recliner mechanisms, and other assemblies. A simple manually operated system is usually sufficient, but electromechanical systems are also available.

The manual version fits in a small control box with USB connection to a laptop. The control box has inputs for one (or more) displacement sensors and a load cell. The electromechanical system comes with a floor-standing console.

To set up a test, the operator enters the target load into the computer, connects the load cell handle mechanism, and tares the load cell. The operator then pulls the handle until the target load is reached, indicated by a beep from the computer. Then, the handle is pushed until the target load is reached in the other direction and the computer beeps again. Finally, the pressure is relaxed and the load vs. displacement graph is saved and shown on the computer for analysis.
