Noise Testing
Noise testing on either complete seats or seat components can be accomplished concurrent with testing for other operations. Testing for noise can also be done either in the laboratory environment, or on the shop floor. This includes both airborne (microphone) and vibration (accelerometer) type measurement systems.
Analysis of sound levels or sound quality for a complete seat or a seat component can also be accomplished on the end-of-line test equipment. We can provide retrofit, or new turnkey systems that identify parts that do not meet customer noise expectations. Using high quality pseudo-anechoic chambers and microphones, simple noise levels (dbA or Sones) or actual noise quality (using real-time FFT frequency based analysis) can be measured at the same time as other
standard operational functions so that production cycle rates or manpower requirements do not change. In some applications, vibration signals from accelerometers can be used in place of microphones, eliminating the need for sound attenuation chambers. Additionally, we have other software solutions available that allow frequency based “sound profiles” to be created that allow specific quality issues to be clearly identified (and quarantined).
