Gear Shift Solenoid Tester

The gear shift solenoid is used to prevent the gear shift of an automatic transmission from moving out of the park position unless the brake is on.  These solenoids must take incredible abuse at temperatures ranging from -40 to 180 deg. F.  The purpose of the Gear Shift Solenoid Tester is to load and cycle the solenoids in every conceivable operating configuration at high and low temperatures.  The system consists of multiple air operated slides, controlled by a proportional regulator (for load control), power control to the solenoids, current monitoring, determination of faults for movement, load, current draw, sticking, and coil failure.

The key to the versatility of operation of this tester is a Visual Basic program that allows the user to simply and easily set up a program that tests the solenoids for as many cycles and in whatever order the user desires.
