GM Cold Impact Tester

This Cold Impact Tester consists of a simple aluminum guide fixture, a 1.8 Kg stainless steel drop projectile and an aluminum or wood (with foam attached) sample test frame.  These items are all designed for use in cold chambers.  

The required drop distance can be adjusted on the tester by using the sliding aluminum guide fixture.  This fixture is locked in place by four set screws.  The impact dart is suspended in the guide fixture by two retaining pins.  The upper pin is used to set the drop distance for repeated testing.  Once the cold impact tester is ready for use, the Technician holds the impact dart by the handle and removes the lower retaining pin.  The dart is released by the Technician by simply letting go of the dart handle.  The test can be repeated by lifting the dart with the handle until it is stopped by the upper pin, change out the sample test frame below, and release the handle.  Test samples are visually evaluated after testing.
