DeMattia Flex Tester

The DeMattia Flex Tester is used to determine the flexible life of a material.  It can measure the rate of formation of cracks in rubber, leather and other textiles.

The machine design consists of a sample flexing unit capable of being exposed to cold temperature extremes and the machine control box unit.  Both units are connected by a detachable umbilical cord.  This system keeps the electronics at ambient temperature and accessible while the sample flexing unit is in an environmental chamber.   The operator loads as many stations as desired and  places the flex unit into the appropriate environmental conditions.  The desired number of test cycles is entered on the cycle counter of the control box unit and once environmental conditions are achieved the test is started.  Upon completion of the cycle count the machine will automatically stop.  Test samples are visually evaluated.
