BIFMA Drop Tester
The BIFMA Drop Tester is used to evaluate the ability of a seat to withstand fatigue stresses and wear caused by downward vertical impact forces on the seat. It is a floor standing system, built on a fabricated steel base that sits under an existing test table. The framing is all plated steel tubing (1/8” wall) with heavy duty adjustable aluminum connections. This arrangement allows for considerable future adjustability. Overhead fore & aft adjustability and up & down adjustability are both accomplished with these same mechanical connections. Right & left adjustability is accomplished by moving the sample under the test stand. The standard machine is designed for weights up to 200lbs.
This machine includes a, double ended pneumatic cylinder with an extended length of 10”. It comes with an additional single-length linear ball bearing at the front end (which is the bottom). This is for additional lateral stability in case the weight swings sideways. A suitable mechanical connection to your weight bag is also included.
Stroke is either the full 10”, or as reduced by manually adjusted steel clamp collars on the cylinder rods. The cycle rate is adjusted manually with the speed controls on the cylinder. A quick-dump exhaust valve is included for rapid down stroke (faster than gravity).
For weights up to 750 lbs an optional pneumatic surge tank is required to produce maximum dynamic operation.
A selectable cycle counter is included to automatically stop the machine upon reaching full value.
