Stability Tester
Stability Testers
The Stability Tester is intended for documenting the looseness ("chuck") of both power and manual seat adjusters, and power and manual recliner mechanisms. It is a very flexible, power driven, automatic test machine with a P.C. based motion control and data acquisition system.
The single load ram is electro-mechanically driven with a variable speed motor and is mounted to an X-Y manual adjustment arrangement with travel locks. It is also free to rotate 360 degrees around the crossbeam and then lock in place. The ram has both a displacement transducer and a load cell mounted to it for data acquisition.
The entire lower plate of the machine is ground steel with a sliding and rotating aluminum mounting plate. This circular mounting disc includes a 4" array of ½" – 13 holes tapped through it for mounting the test sample. The outer four toe clamps lock both rotary and translating motion of this mounting disc at the same time.
The P.C. based Control and Data Acquisition System is housed within a separate floor-standing console. The software is custom programmed by us in Visual Basic and operates in a standard Windows environment. Data acquisition of both load and position is automatically plotted for the ram with a wide selection of user and display options. There are mathematical sequences for determining theoretical looseness (chuck) values. The final graphical result can then be printed on the plain paper color ink jet printer that is also housed within the console. This test data can also be saved or downloaded onto any other suitable P.C. type format.
Generally, this non-destructive test system is rather simple to both set-up and operate. Technicians that are P.C. literate will not have trouble learning how to operate the software
